| Der Bodensee - die Seele Europas!
Lake Constance - the Soul of Europe! With a view of the Alps to the south and the remnants of
former volcanoes to the west, the "Swabian Sea" offers more than water to bathe in. In fact, it is the source
of drinking water for 3,5 million people in Germany and Switzerland. The lake lies between three lands;
and with a depth of 252 m and a surface area of 540 km2, it is the third largest lake in middle Europe.
The bicycle path winds through one of the oldest, most beautiful, and most treasured tourist regions.
Using your own power you will reach and discover scores of cultural assets, like the oldest German castle
(Meersburg), romantic island villages (Lindau), and beautiful downtown areas (Schaffhausen).
Tip: Don't forget to pack your bathing necessities in your pack! Nearly every community has a bathing beach,
and those on the Swiss side are often free.
