Goethe raved that the view from San Giovanni/Torbole out over Riva on Lake Garda was one of the most beautiful that he knew. It is supremely delightful to ride from Tyrolean mountain villages into the German/Italian area of South Tyrol, further on to Trentino, and through the truly Italian villages in the Po River plain which lie off the beaten path.

Facts

The provinces of Alto—Adige/South Tyrol and Trentino have invested large sums of money into the improvement of their bicycle paths. As a result, the paths in the region from Lake Reschen on the main Alpine ridge to Lake Garda and further on to Verona are very beautiful. You will ride throughout on traffic—free, consistently marked bicycle paths and on dams crossing the river Etsch. Many sights to see! On the second day there is a large descent, but the rest of the path is flat. On the 9 km to Lake Garda, you will descend 90 metres in elevation!
